Economic Impact Analysis Multicriteria Decision-Making Survey Design & Implementation Triple Bottom Line Analysis

Healthy watersheds, green infrastructure, and other natural assets deliver essential services that support water systems and community well-being. One Water Econ quantifies and monetizes the value of these services to inform water resources planning and support long-term infrastructure decisions.
Using triple bottom line frameworks, we integrate co-benefits—such as habitat, public health, and community resilience—into economic evaluations, enabling agencies to compare diverse projects, identify multi-benefit solutions, and make strategic investments. When monetization isn’t feasible, we incorporate non-financial outcomes through multi-criteria and risk-based approaches, balancing priorities across nature, people, and the economy.

  • Benefits Valuation

One Water Econ applies market and non-market valuation techniques to capture the financial, social, and environmental benefits of natural infrastructure systems. Our team has also developed innovative tools to quantify and monetize these benefits, enabling more informed planning, investment, and policy decisions.

  • Water Dependent Economic Activity

Clean, reliable water supplies enable strong local and regional economies. We quantify the value and economic impact of water across sectors, including agriculture, recreation and tourism, and water-dependent industries.

  • Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI)

One Water Econ brings deep expertise in valuing the co-benefits of green stormwater infrastructure—from flood mitigation and improved air quality to public health, neighborhood vitality, and green job creation. Our valuation methods support comparison of infrastructure alternatives, strengthen internal support for GSI, and uncover opportunities for cost-sharing and strategic partnerships.

  • Healthy Watersheds

One Water Econ specializes in assessing the costs and benefits of natural infrastructure strategies that protect source water, reduce wildfire risk, and enhance watershed resilience. We apply advanced economic valuation methods to quantify avoided treatment costs, reduced fire suppression expenses, and ecosystem service gains – helping clients to compare investment options and explore innovative financing models—such as benefit-based cost-allocation.

Projects of Note

  • Understanding and Quantifying the Co-benefits of Green Stormwater Infrastructure

One Water Econ partnered with The Nature Conservancy and the Green Infrastructure Leadership Exchange to create the GSI Impact Hub – a centralized resource that helps stormwater planners and decision-makers understand the benefits of GSI in local contexts.
